Ο William Outhwaite, προηγουμένως καθηγητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Sussex, ασχολείται ερευνητικά με την Κριτική θεωρία, τη Φιλοσοφία των κοινωνικών επιστημών, την Ιστορία της κοινωνικής σκέψης και τη Σύγχρονη Ευρώπη. Αυτή την περίοδο εργάζεται σε έρευνα σχετικά με την πολιτική αλλαγή στην Ευρώπη μετά το 1989.

Research Interests

Social theory (esp. critical theory); philosophy of social science; history of social thought; contemporary Europe

Current Work

I recently published a short book on European Society (Polity Press, 2008) and a second edition of my book on Habermas (Polity Presss, 2009). A book chapter on the emergence of the idea of the social in nineteenth century philosophy is in press. Currently working on social and political change in Europe since 1989, supported by a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship.

Future Research

Further work on social change in Europe since 1989.
